Speaker O'Brien Issues Memorial Day Statement

HARRISBURG, May 25 - “Throughout history, these cherished principles have guided both this Commonwealth and our nation. These beliefs have been defended in combat through the years by millions of courageous men and women. Some died fighting for freedom and democracy."

“All Pennsylvanians and all Americans are indebted to the courage and risk of life of these selfless man and women in uniform, all of whom earned this nation's everlasting gratitude. And so today with open arms and a grateful heart we embrace and memorialize their valor and their sacrifice."

“In remembering the best of what these citizen soldiers are capable of, we are ultimately reminded of the possibility of such courage in ourselves"
