O’Brien plans large event for older residents
HARRISBURG, Sept. 7 – Residents of the 169th Legislative District should mark their calendars for Thursday, Sept. 20 when Rep. Dennis O’Brien will hold a special event for senior citizens and their families at the Penn Crisp Gym, 9151 Academy Road.
O’Brien’s Senior Expo 2007 will bring together more than 50 service providers, non-profit groups and representatives of state and federal agencies at one location to provide useful information and free giveaway items to older residents.
“There are dozens of programs to serve senior citizens,” O’Brien said. “The Senior Expo will allow visitors to get information about all of these services in one day at one place.”
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Penn Crisp Gym, 9151 Academy Road.
It will include representatives of area health care providers and insurers, financial institutions, the Pennsylvania Lottery, and the state Treasury’s Bureau of Unclaimed Property.
Also present will be the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the attorney general’s Bureau of Consumer Protection and the Senior Law Center.
O’Brien and his staff will distribute important state forms and information about services that are available from his office.
“This event was very successful in the past and I hope to see a lot of old friends again. Anyone who can’t attend on September 20 should always feel free to call or visit my district office where we keep information about all of these services,” he said.
O’Brien’s office is at 9811 Academy Road. The phone number is 215-632-5150.
