House Speaker Reaffirms Commitment to Pennsylvania’s Children

HARRISBURG, March 21 – Reaffirming his commitment to Pennsylvania’s children, Speaker of the House Dennis M. O’Brien (R-Philadelphia) today praised the work of the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance at a Capitol rally.

“These knowledgeable, talented and committed people, and their member agencies, work at the local level to protect children from abuse and to help strengthen the very fabric of our families,” O’Brien said.

PFSA program services are designed to provide a positive environment for children by providing education in parenting skills, support services for families and training programs for professionals. Services include training, technical assistance and various support services.

“The Family Support Alliance reaches thousands of families and professionals each year with programs to ensure the safety, health and welfare of generations to come,” O’Brien said. “They also educate the Commonwealth’s mandated reporters about how to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.

“That’s why I’m particularly honored to participate in this event… we know we are supporting work that will leave a legacy of hope and measurable, positive results for children and families.”

O’Brien spoke at a rally marking April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Pennsylvania. He asked fellow legislators to show their support by wearing blue ribbons or lapel pins to serve as a daily reminder of thousands of children who are being abused or neglected.
